Song Meaning of “Invasões – Ao Vivo” by Jorge & Mateus
Invasões is an anthem of declaring one’s right to love and not be prevented by society or its expectations. The lyrics portray a person’s soul and heart yearning for what it desires without holding back: “My heart invaded me / I’m tired of giving up / I don’t know to resist / God knew me.” The singer is confident that what he is feeling is right, because it is something that cannot be denied. He stands his ground and promises to never give up on his dreams of love, no matter how difficult it may be. He wants to spread the message that it is okay to break away from the boundaries of society and just embrace the feeling of unconditional love and freedom. Love does not have to be limited by societal expectations, tattoos, or other moderate conventions. He strongly believes that love is an invasion, and a beautiful invasion at that: “I’ve been invaded and in a happy way, I’m not ashamed of the wound / love invaded and I don’t resist, I don’t need a tattoo.” Allowing yourself to be invaded by love and its feelings of guiltlessness is something that is invaluable to him, and must be embraced.
