Song Meaning of “Last Chance At Love” by Foxy Shazam
This song is about letting go of a lost love and understanding that it’s time to make the difficult decision to move on. In the chorus, the lyrics “return but then turn around” reflect the narrator’s hesitation to give this person one more chance at love, knowing that it won’t turn out any different. The narrator is hesitant to get hurt again, but still can’t help but feel the longing for a last chance at love.
The verses express the narrator’s current state of acceptance. He’s reached the point where he knows he must let go of this person for good, no matter how much he still cares. This is reflected in the lines “I push you away, just to keep you here” and “we both know we lost it, maybe we never had it”.
When all hope seems lost, the narrator reminds himself that there is still a chance for something better: “You may be right, but I guess this is right”. Ultimately, he is bravely moving forward, and although his heart still wants what it can no longer have, he is embracing the freedom that comes with finally letting go.
