Song Meaning of “Judge” by Pro-Pain
Judge tells the story of a person living an ordinary life taken over by tragedy, representing many of us in our daily lives. The song paints a vivid picture of a person who feels helpless in the face of overwhelming sorrow, and the only thing that can help them is time. The lyrics describe the sensation of being judged for one’s actions, but also judging and punishing oneself for the same. The chorus reflects the deep despair, hauntingly stating that “it’s time to face my demons and I’ve nothing to say”.
The music reflects the anguish and desperation of the lyrics, with a heavy, driving guitar and pounding drums. The narrator is so broken and overwhelmed by the loss that even their prayers and pleas for help seem futile. But even in the darkest times, the light of hope can still be found in the music, in the chorus where in the distance we hear a small voice saying “you can judge again”. Although things seem impossible to survive, there is still hope to be found when our darkest days seem never ending.
